Since the first Expo in 1997, we have been very successful to continue every year and organize its commemorating tenth Expo this year. We are so grateful to those who have continued to support it all this time by exhibiting or visiting.
The significance of the "Expo" is not only to expand business opportunities of fishery products, but it is also thought to provide a place to learn and study for the fishery industry development. Information exchanges with many buyers provide valuable opportunities to feel the sense of movement in retail sectors. Since the buyers may also recognize attractive aspect of seafood at the same time, it provides opportunities for the both sides to learn each other. While the environment surrounding fishery products is being diversified due to worldwide seafood boom, we will also work to learn with both parties each other, and to make this Expo as an opportunity to enhance the attractiveness of marine products,
Fish and seafood are already sufficiently attractive products, but at the same time we must not neglect the fact that they can be further improved in their attractiveness by more actively incorporating technology concerned with freshness, processing, distribution, and safety.
Continuing from last year's Expo, we will set up again areas for "Sushi Expo" and the "International Aquaculture Technology Expo" concurrently with the "International Seafood and Technology Expo." We are also trying to convey the attractiveness of fish through "Sushi," which is considered Japan's traditional fast food boasted to the world, as well as value-added products that would increase seafood consumption in Japan and overseas. Moreover, taking this opportunity of the tenth anniversary, we are considering hosting more attractive events based on demands from the exhibitors.
From Hokkaido in the north through Kyushu and Okinawa in the south, as well as from the far distance of the world, we sincerely invite your participations from positive thinking corporations, which have already familiar products, hidden superior products, or those having products of specific nature. We are sure to meet your expectation of the Expo, which is commemorating the tenth anniversary and as well for the next ten years.
